  • What is involved in a consultation?
This is the first step. A consultation is needed before any laser treatment. It involves taking a health history, evaluating the tattoo, explaining the procedure, reviewing risks verses benefits, options, answering your questions, and establishing the price per treatment. Clients under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
  • Is there a fee for the consultation?
Consultation is free by phone and text however for an office visit consultation there is a fee of $50, which may be credited toward the first treatment for qualified candidates if treatment is done within 30 days from the consultation. If you choose not to have laser treatment the $50 will cover the cost of the consultation time and is nonrefundable.
  • How many tattoo removal treatments will I need?
Unfortunately, we cannot predict exactly how many treatments will be required because each person is unique, as are their tattoos, however our lasers and techniques produce the best results with the fewest possible treatments. Homemade tattoos treated with conventional method generally take 1 to 4 treatments. Professional tattoos treated with conventional method usually requires between 5 and 15 treatments with an average of 10. R20 method requires only 3-8 visits. The number of treatments depends on the amount of ink used, type of ink, depth of ink placed in skin, location, age, colors, and each person’s individual health considerations. No two people or two tattoos are the same.
  • How much will it cost to remove my tattoo?
Pricing ranges from $100 and up, per laser treatment, depending on the tattoo. It increases depending on size, color, location, and other factors of your tattoo. A consultation will be needed to assess your tattoo and determine cost and customize the best laser removal plan to meet your goals. We help clients save time AND money with our “Pay-as-you-go approach” to laser removal. To save more money you can purchase a treatment package.

Payment by Credit or Debit Cards, Venmo, Cryptocurrency and Cash which is preferred.
  • How are tattoos removed?
Laser tattoo removal employs the Principal of Selective Photo Thermolysis. The laser generates high-energy, nanosecond bursts of single frequency light energy that is highly absorbed by ink particles. The ink heats and cools rapidly causing expand and contract (vibrate) and shatter. The ink fragments are small enough to be absorbed and removed by your immune system. The surrounding skin is left unharmed. We use Q-switched nd:Yag lasers which are effective and safe; the gold standard for tattoo removal. Earlier methods involved the use of dermabrasion, salibrasion, surgery and C02 lasers, but these methods left behind scarring or lighter skin in place of the tattoo. Also commonly seen on the internet are tattoo removal creams—which rarely work.
  • What is the R20 method of tattoo removal?
The R20 laser tattoo removal method is an innovative approach to treating unwanted tattoos. Through a sequence of a series of treatments spaced 10 to 20 minutes apart, multiple laser treatments may be performed in one day.
  • Is the process painful?
Any discomfort is reduced by using cryo-cooled air to reduce sensation by half, our skin cooling system is a natural way to numb the skin. In some cases, we may recommend topical numbing for very sensitive clients or large tattoos and R20s. Icing 15 minutes before treatment and taking ibuprofen one hour prior to arrival can also help to reduce discomfort. Our patients find the pain is equivalent to getting a tattoo but much quicker. The sensation and intensity can vary from person to person and can depend on the tattoo’s location. Women generally tolerate treatment more easily than men, but they also tend to have smaller tattoos. The treatment is over quickly and it’s very rare that a person doesn’t tolerate it. The laser sensation lessens as the treatments progress.
  • How much faster is the R20 method vs. Conventional:
One R20 treatment typically gets the same results in three months that takes one year (5-6 conventional treatments) to achieve. 3-6 R20 treatments will remove most tattoos vs 12-15 for most conventional removals. Not only does R20 method remove tattoos faster, it is also more convenient and economical because it saves you time (less visits).
  • Will my skin be damaged?
Skin damage is highly unlikely. Our side effect rate is extremely low even though we treat the most challenging skin-types and tattoos. Our goal is to remove your tattoo and keep your skin undamaged. Some people worry about getting scars, or about having their skin whitened or darkened. We avoid scars and skin whitening or darkening is rare and/or transient. We accomplish this through our skin expertise, our in-house training, our experienced laser techs and by using the right lasers. We use up to date nd:YAG lasers and a 1064nm frequency. That is the safest most gentle frequency and can be used on all skin colors with very low risk of side effects. Because dark ink responds to 1064nm we think it should always be the “go-to” laser frequency. We switch frequencies only as needed to remove colored ink. Even then we take care to minimize side effects. People who are African American, Asian, Hispanic or of Mediterranean descent should avoid Alexandrite and Ruby lasers.
  • Does laser tattoo removal work on dark or black skin?
Yes, if the right laser is used by a good operator. About 40% our clients have darker skin-types so we have a lot of experience. African-Americans, Asians, Hispanics, and people of Mediterranean descent or others with pigmented skin need to be careful about choosing the right laser and operator. For those with darker skin types only the nd:YAG 1064nm laser is completely safe because that frequency isn’t well absorbed by skin pigmentation (melanin). Lasers with other frequencies such as the Alexandrite (755nm) and Ruby (650nm) destroy melanin and can cause bleaching or darkening of your skin that can be permanent.
  • What should I expect after the tattoo removal treatment?
After the treatment we will cover the tattoo site with Bacitracin and a breathable dressing and offer you cold packs. You won’t feel pain but will feel heat and then sunburn for a day or two. Some people will experience itching. Only some people will get blistering or scabbing. Either way is normal. It’s important that you leave blisters and scabs alone. Do not pop or pick them. We will gladly drain a blister if it is bothering you. Do not be concerned if you do not get blistering or scabbing. You may or may not see immediate results, but the fading will mostly happen over time. Heavily inked tattoos may not show visible fading after the first one or two conventional treatments even though it is working.
  • Should I choose the R20 method or conventional laser tattoo removal treatments?
It’s up to you. Both conventional method and the advanced R20 method work well but the R20 method provides faster results in half the total time and half the visits. Both are safe on any skin-type and work on colored tattoos. Our technicians have completed over 1,000 R20 sessions and is a world leader. The total time to remove will depend on the ink density, location on your body and your fitness level. Higher density areas take longer while shading disappears in one treatment. R20 method is ideal for people in a hurry, those who are doing cover-ups and for those who want to minimize visits and can afford the higher up-front cost.
  • Who else does R20 tattoo removal?
Although many say they can do it, very few have successfully done a single R20. No one comes close to our level of experience and expertise. R20 is a concept, not a textbook method. R20 method took time and testing to develop the treatment protocols and to do it right. We have completed over 1,000 fast removal R20s and have refined it to a very high level. Our fast removal technique removes tattoos in half of the time and treatments compared to conventional treatments.
  • How does R20 method compare with Picosure?
We don't use Picosure because of its high incidence of side effects and its limited applications. Our R20 method has better results without the increased side effects Picosure's laser frequency. Unlike Picosure, R20 is safe on all skin-types and excels on black and red ink as well as green and blue.
  • Why do you stress aftercare?
Good aftercare minimizes side effects and boosts treatment effectiveness. That’s why we give you so many verbal and written instructions and are always available to answer your questions any time after your treatments. You want to eliminate skin irritation and enhance recovery from the laser treatment. You also want to eliminate any chance of infection. Our specialists will instruct you about aftercare and will provide written instructions. We can provide you with an aftercare kit for a nominal charge. Please follow our aftercare instructions exactly.
  • How long is the appointment?
Your first appointment for a conventional treatment will generally be 20 minutes or less depending on the size and number of tattoos we are treating. This includes paperwork and treatment. Follow-up treatment appointments will take 15 minutes or less. R20 treatments, depending on the size and number of tattoos will take between 20 minutes to 1 hour. We do not double book appointments so there is seldom any waiting.
  • How often can I get treated?
We recommend intervals that will minimize cost, and increase safety and effectiveness. Conventional treatments are generally at 6-8 week intervals between treatments and 8-12 for R20's. Shortening the time will not result in faster removal and will increase risk of side effects. We will specify the waiting period after each treatment depending on how you are responding.
  • Will I have a scar?
The chance of scarring is less then 5%, if you follow the aftercare instructions. The risk of scarring can increase for pregnancy, dark skin tone, poor circulation, immune system deficiencies, taking Accutaine, some health conditions, taking certain medications, or having a history of keloids or elevated scarring.
  • Do all colors of ink disappear equally as well?
No, but black ink removes the best. Red, orange, pink, and warmer colors respond well. Purple and yellow is variable but usually removes well. Normally White, flesh tones, and permanent make-up can turn darker with laser, and must be tested before treatment. Greens and blues are known to be the toughest to remove however we use an Alexandrite 755 laser which is specific just for treating green and blue inks which usually fade as fast as black inks.
  • Will the tattoo completely disappear?
In many cases, yes. However, it is very important to know that over 100 types of tattoo inks are used today and none of them are regulated by the FDA. Without standardized inks it makes it difficult to predict the degree of removal of any tattoo.
  • What type of after care is necessary?
A healing ointment and a bandage will be applied to the area. The treated site should be kept clean and dry that day, and out of the sun. A shower can be taken the next day, and the site should not be scrubbed. The bandage should be changed daily for up to 7 days.
